Cai Guo-Qiang's film Tonight So Lovely (2001/2002) goes behind the scenes of the great fireworks display that the artist organized for the October 2001 Asia Pacific Conference in Shanghai. For this event, Cai Guo-Quiang who has used explosives in his work since 1989, lit up skyline of Shanghai with fireworks, giving the appearance of an entire city ablaze.
